Story Boards
I enjoy accompanying my interior architecture projects by drawing storyboards, showing how the visitor may experience the space. It easily conveys the atmosphere and flow of the design.
Sketches & Concept Art
The concept is one of the most important parts of the design process.
Using both hand drawing and digital drawing through Procreate, I have produced various types of concept art for all of my projects. It is a great way for me to kickstart ideas and begin developing and refining them.
I feel confident in my drawing skills and using them to produce and visualise my ideas.
Floor Plans - Development & Outcome
Using AutoCAD and Vectorworks, I created floor plans for an exhibition, named Past Future Present Future, showing different perspectives of how the future is imagined.
It was a challenging project at first, having a very large space to work with, but ultimately, I was able to produce innovative ideas for designing each phase of the exhibition and transform the hand-sketches plans into professional and refined CAD drawings. Using various line weights and types, I could highlight important features and fixtures within the design.
Sections
I used AutoCAD and Vectorworks to produce sections of the Past Future-Present Future exhibition. I feel confident in using this software to create technical drawings and sections. I learned many new skills throughout the design process and succeeded in experimenting with line weights to show perspective.
Rendered Section
Using Adobe Photoshop I produced a rendered section of my building. I included several textures and colours to convey my design choices and added lighting and shadows to bring the space to life.
Detail Drawings
Drawing details is one of my favourite parts of technical drawings. I enjoy looking at the finer characteristics of the space I designed and focusing on the materials and structure of interesting built-in features of the design.
On the left is featured a detail section of a “Terrarium Table" I designed, where individuals can watch a live eco-system built into the table and flowing up into the wall.
Below it is a drawing of a checkout counter, designed for a luxury supermarket. The use of line weights in this drawing allowed me to create a clear and aesthetically pleasing elevation and section.
Paper Models
Using A4 paper, UHU glue and other materials like live moss and wooden dowels, I constructed small models inspired by mushrooms and organic shapes.
The results produced some intricate and aesthetically pleasing structures.
Placing 1:100 scale figures near them, I imaged the structures to be used as pavilions.
Maquettes
I created a variety of maquettes using different materials and textures. My main medium is white mount boards as it gives the models a clean look. However, I constantly like to experiment with new techniques and materials like foam or wood. I feel confident in my model making skills, being able to accurately measure and cut the components to size.
Adding many details, both big and small, allow me to show as much of the design as possible.
Detailed maquette displaying a pop-up shop selling plants and crystals.
The design features a social space in the back of the store where guests can relax and enjoy a hot beverage.
Sketch Models
Throughout my projects, I often use sketch models to show certain concepts or features of my design, giving the client a deeper understanding of what I want to achieve and how it will fit with the rest of the design.
